- This is what I've learned with hubby when shopping for diamonds:
- You'd probably want to purchase a diamond with a certificate, ie GIA.
- You need it for when you want to trade in or sell. (you might think you want to keep it forever now...that's what i thought too but after 1 year or so, most women for some reason, change their mind and want to trade in for a larger one!!!!
Other reasons could be due to unforeseen finanical situation.
- Also, (although most people don't do it) you'd need to report to the customs like your cameras, etc when you leave canada with it. It's what proves you didn't buy it from another country, thus, get charged duty or risk being taken away by them when you return. Very "ng daai" lor! We all know how mean customs can be!
But *scratch head* your rock is worth more than your camera, camrecorders, etc, why won't you report it?
- If you don't get a certificate right now, you can get it later buy paying a fee. (not sure what it is) to get it appraised again. Hopefully, by then, you won't find out that it's actually not worth what you purchased for la.
- House insurance (your diamond is insurable under your home insurance. The certificate stands for the value and a receipt! Very important!!)
Oh, remember that each diamond should have a serial number engraved that can be visible when under magnifying glass! |
