【明報專訊】卑詩保險公司(ICBC)準備將衝紅燈攝影計劃擴大，在衝燈黑點加裝140部攝影機，而且全部攝影機均會正常運作，不會再擺「空城計」。

現時省內共計有120個十字路口已經安裝衝紅燈攝影機，但實際上只有30台攝影機在運作，即有7成半的十字路口在擺「空城計」，所裝攝影機只是擺設而已。

在卑詩保險公司擴大計劃下，每一個路口都會有自動攝影機的裝置，但未必會24小時運作。

卑詩保險公司發言人格羅斯曼(Adam Grossman )指出，衝紅燈攝影機會選擇在每日衝燈高危時間開啟使用，希望此舉可以起到阻嚇作用。

格羅斯曼強調，計劃並非要增加衝紅燈罰單，而是希望駕車者警覺到衝紅燈的後果十分嚴重，從而減少因為衝紅燈而導致意外所釀成的傷亡。

他指出，雖然這是全省性的計劃，相信裝置在低陸平原的機會遠高於全省其他地區。卑保已經確定全省1.4萬處裝置衝紅燈攝影機的可能地點，稍後會與省內各城鎮政府商討合適的設立地點。

When they see you accelerate your car at the white line, that means you have no intention to stop, that is enough for them to ticket you even you are within speed limit

I don't think flooring hard will make your car go from 60-100 in less than 2 sec (unless you have a supercar), so my last tickets show I was running at 73.

yes, but if you can proof it is not safe to stop, you won't get a ticket.

Your red light ticket will also display the speed at the time of your violation.  Some judges will show no sympathy if they notice your speed is high, meaning that you had no intention to stop.

Yes.  I had a ticket for jumping the amber light. :-(  By the book, amber also means stop.

For those who don't know, red light camera will take 2 pictures. First picture will show your car at the stop (white) line while the light is red. Second picture will show your car in the intersection while the light is red.

In another word, you will not get a ticket if you car is over the stop line when the light turns red.

Therefore, if you are left turning and tailgating, as long as your car is past the white line, you can go as you please during red. Same applies to straight going cars, just make sure you are past the white line when the light turns red (floor it hard).
