As I pointed out, the examples that you gave are all unrelated and invalid.
Like the Three Gorges Dam, 千岛湖, 廣東省, Katrina etc.
Three Gorges Dam, and 千岛湖 have solved the flooding problem, especially along Yangtze river, and are generating large amounts of clean hydro power.
According to the experts, the mudslide in Gansu province was partly due to the Sichuan earthquake two years ago, which had made the top soil very loose in several provinces.
My examples were merely mentioned to point out the blantant disregard for mother nature, and how sloppy the preparatory work was done, or how grossly politically motivated the construction projects are. Those are the common themes to these disasters to China.
The fact that you agree the mudslide is related to over-cutting, destruction of vegetation as protective coverings only further reinforces my points.

Lik, you have again made up some unrelated garbage here, with no proof whatsoever. You kept on babbling, but with no coherent logic or proof at all.
The Three Gorges Dam has successfully controlled flooding along the Yangtze River.
It has nothing to do with 泥石流, which happened in Gansu province.
千岛湖 hydro project was built in 1959 in 浙江省, it has nothing to do with the Three Gorges Dam or 泥石流 in Gansu province.
In 廣東省, according to experts, the small flooding is probably due to inadequate drainage system and the effect of the garbage from the large number of constructions sites that affects the drainage system.
For Katrina, since the US population density is so small compared with that of China, of course there were fewer people affected.
Of course, the morons are gonna say that your US masters are doing exactly the same thing in the Gulf of Mexico, and your Albertan neighbours are raping the land for oil sands as well. I have no intention to defend the US for the BP disaster, as details dug up by the press have already revealed tons of gross negligence on both the government supervisory body and BP itself. But had the plans been done and the precautionary measures taken properly, damage would have been kept to a minimum. Coastal communities along the Gulf of Mexico, for example, have been increasingly affected by the successively stronger Gulf hurricanes, but even with Katrina (one of the costliest and most deadly Hurricane in US history), the death toll was in the 1800's, a far cry from the numbers you see in "natural" disasters in China.
