儲臍帶血備用成效存疑 baby

愈來愈多父母為初生子女儲存臍帶血及幹細胞以備日後用於醫療，但醫學界及消費者委員會都質疑，該做法至今仍未有科學證據支持，將來用處可能不大

先天有事 抽取無意義
如患者患遺傳性血液疾病，臍帶血本身已有問題，抽取儲存根本無意義，故即使自體移植臍帶血只適用於患後天性血液疾病，但據醫學文獻記載，使用自體臍帶血的機會低於二萬分之一，就算嬰兒初生時抽取並儲存了臍帶血，分量亦未必夠成年後使用。

Those profit-making cord blood bank say they will keep it safe in nitrogen cooler. Please note they don't do any testing.  You pay for the storage fee every year.

If you donate the cord blood to Red Cross, they test and verify whether it is safe before storing.  Same case as blood donation.  The cord blood is donated to save anyone if necessary.

Some people that I know also store the blood of their babies as well. I also wonder whether it is actually useful.

I think they just believe in what they were told since there is no proof of any success or usefullness.

it's almost next to useless.  I did the research ... and I opted not to do it.

當有事時,例如血癌,所儲的cord blood根本亦有cancer cell的genes.  再輸返入去身體,簡直多此一舉!
仲唔安心,點保險!
