tipping at chinese restaurants...

do you tip on the amount without tax or total inclusive of tax?

i went to a chinese restaurant for those set dinner and realized they rounded up my bill on my credit card statement, the amount is not much more but i don't agree with what they did. i tipped before tax and they rounded up so it's 10% after tax.. i authorized $495 and they changed it to $496.98....=__=.

Just give whatever left in your wallet, or your gf's waller.

That should be enough.

I usually pay 10% after tax. In western restaurant, usually 10-15% depending on service.

reduce some amount if the service is bad.

The following standards are for personal use only, user discretion is advised:

Chinese restaurant= the amount before tax x 10%

Caucasian restaurant = the amount before tax x 15%

Japanese restaurant = the amount before tax x 7%

Good food, good service = the amount after tax x 30%

Good service, bad food = $10 tip

Bad service with good food = a dollar or 2

Zero service = nickels, dimes, & quarters

Really bad service? one penny
