Burrows scored the overtime winner on a brilliant wraparound goal 11 seconds into the extra period, when he not only beat Boston goalie Tim Thomas but Bruins captain Zdeno Chara for a 3-2 victory on Saturday.

The Vancouver Canucks were thankful Alex Burrows was not suspended for biting the gloved finger of Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron.

Burrows scored the overtime winner on a brilliant wraparound goal 11 seconds into the extra period, when he not only beat Boston goalie Tim Thomas but Bruins captain Zdeno Chara for a 3-2 victory on Saturday.

The Canucks now have a 2-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Final as the series switches to Boston for the next two games.

It was an emotional evening with the return of Manny Malhotra. He missed 2 ½ months with a serious left eye injury that was initially believed to be a season-ending and possibly a career-ending setback.

But the veteran returned and played on the fourth line between Victor Oreskovich and Jeff Tambellini.

Daniel Sedin scored the tying goal, 9:37 into the third period. Burrows found a loose puck that was blocked in front of the Boston goal and then slid a pass to a wide-open Sedin for his ninth of the playoffs.

With an injured Dan Hamhuis on the sidelines, the Canucks elected to suit up defenceman Andrew Alberts. The dependable Hamhuis injured himself early in the second period of the series opener and has not skated since Wednesday.

The Canucks led 1-0 after the first period, but trailed 2-1 following 40 minutes because of Boston goals from two B.C. boys.

Vancouver goalie Robert Luongo saw his shutout streak end at 138:54 when Milan Lucic found a loose puck to slide home midway through the second period. Luongo had not surrendered a goal since the second period of West final double-overtime finale.

Two minutes and 35 seconds after the Bruins first goal of the series, Mark Recchi gave Boston its first power-play goal and first lead. He deflected in a point shot from captain Zdeno Chara.

At 43 years old, Recchi became the oldest player to score in a Stanley Cup final, surpassing Igor Larionov, who checked in with a goal at 41, 189 days in the 2002 final.

The Canucks scored first for the 12th time in 20 postseason games, when Chris Higgins poked a pass to Burrows in close for a power-play goal. Sami Salo made a deft play at the blue line to keep in a clearing attempt from Boston blue-liner Andrew Ference.

The Canucks just find a way to win the game.
