This becomes increasingly important as you get older because the risks and likelihood of you developing various eye diseases (eg. cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment and macular degeneration to name a few of the more "common" ones) go up with age. For some of these eye diseases, you don't even need to be that old to get them. If the disease is detected at an early stage, treatment is a lot easier, and vision loss can be kept to a minimum.
Even if you have to cough it up yourself, spending that $90 once every 2 years or so is well worth it la.
