Commerce has always difficult to get in. It's board based admission so even if you have high 90s+ you might not get in if you don't have any extra curricular activities.
I don't know about adjusting marks for public vs private schools though. It's a rumor and I actually it's easier to get higher marks in some private schools because you are paying a very high tuition fee and the school wants the students to "succeed."
A lot of people get kicked out. Usually due to 1. LPI 2. GPA 3. Lack of interest.
You can't expect SFU students to speak fluent English even though they get high mar ...

agreed~ I swear, some of the TA's english might even be at an ESL level... their accents makes their english sound like @!#$##%#$%$%... if the TA's can't speak fluent english, why do the students need to speak fluent english?
