Nowadays most places have free WIFI.  It is much better than 3G (at least with Rogers and Telus).

Doesn't matter ..  People in China still like iphone .. back then ..  no 3 g network .. they still buy it .  even "LOCKED" .. they just buy  .. buy buy ..

That is why, iphone always sold out in HK, since everyone likes to buy few of them, and sold to China ....  but how often you see people in HK still using iphone?

Beware that Iphone 5 sold in North America will not work on LTE in Asia. You will fall back to 3G network only because Canada & US LTE use different frequencies.
