I personally don't think DIY your own will is such a good idea. Sure it is doable but don't forget you are actually making a legal document and there is no room for error. When the document is in full force and if they see even one mistake then they can say your will is invalid. If you don't have a valid will then you don't have a will! Sure we all want to save $ but there are things should be handled by professionals only. This is just my own personal point of view how you choose is entirely up to you. Anyone use those "Wills guide for Canada" before? They are available in LDrug and include the will forms to print. I read one and seems very easy to setup for myself and family, as everything is just fill in the blanks. The hardest part is getting 2 witnesses to sign the completed forms with you at the same time.
When my dad setup his will, I went through similar exercise with a lawyer and his secretary. The only difference is the higher $$ fee and the permanent(I was told) storage of the signed will.
I am still wondering if I need to pay the lawyer $$$ to get my will done.
I think you should seek legal advice for that but I am sure they need all the information you mentioned so the "executor" can verify the "beneficiary".
