Hey,Let's have some coffee talk.

Just wondering where people got their beans?
How do you like your coffee?
How far along is you latte art?

I used to get my coffee beans at JJ Beans, now I like to go to WE coffee or Republica.

hk style cafe rarely appeal to the to real coffee aficionados.
And a real coffee cafe may find carry HK/ chinese pastries lowering their standards.
your only answer maybe go to a food court buy your high test coffee for 1 shop and pastry from another. IE parker place we have pine house bakery and 1 or 2 place for coffee connoisseurs.

I enjoy coffee but not an expert.  Not more than 3 cups in regular office hours.

Peet's roast is usually darker. May be good with Moka or espresso machine.

Just found out London Drugs is clearing Peet's Coffee in whole beans for $10 a bag. The roasting date is 10/10/2013, so out of my surprise it's so cheap.

I will try them tomorrow and see how good it is for pour over and french press.

I quite like the beans from La Cuisson, very good quality and fresh, fair price too, they sell cat poo and blue mountain.

They also sell Ice Drip Coffee Machine, good for lazy people want great ice coffee...

I don't know. It's up to cafe owners to bring whatever kind of pastry in.

OK, if those Chinese pastry along with main stream banana bread, cheese cake, brownie are added to the coffee shop menu, will it be welcomed ?

I think those are Hong Kong style pastry. I don't know any coffee shop serving that.
Currently no local roaster that I know of serves Chinese/Hong Kong pastry.
There may be some that have Taiwanese style western pastry/dessert (Kerrisdale).
But I am not sure.
