some thoughts about Olympic at this moment.

Before winter Olympic started,  I hated it.   I hated it causes the rising price of real estate, the overbudget of the entire thing,  the road closure and inconvinence,  the ugly design of the medal..... etcetc.....

I dont' know why i started to like it very much at this moment.  It brings us Canada Line, extra job opportunity in the last couple of years, the pride of being a Canadian.. etcetc....  Even the medal looks so much nicer to me now than they first announced it.

I am not a big hockey fan but I will spare my 2.5 hour to watch the game and I feel bad when Canada lost to USA.  I actually have a country to support because i am Canadian. I never have this feeling before. I didn't support China in the previous Olympics because I used to think i am a Honger,  not mainland Chinese.  I have never seen there is so many Canadian flags in the city in my entire life.  I used to think it is only Americans like to put the flags out to show their patriotism.  We Canadian actually have more flags than Americans, we just didn't like to put it out all the time.

I guess patriotism is what we benefit from this Winter Games.

Any one has some similar feeling?

Yes, I'm a poor but proud Canadian, always
千年百年煙雲外,縈懷的又豈是嬝娜輕愁..縱然碎落滿空星斗,我卻無法拭去記憶中那抹小小的 偶然, 凄酸 啊以及妳 長長睫影下的淚痕

I don't know why humans want to be divided by borders.  I don't know what you actually gain when Canada grabs more medals than other countries.  When you wake up the next day, everything is still the same.  You are still you.  I doubt anyone would respect you more because you are a Canadian.

it brings canadian together.  never see so many people line-up in town and everyone has a happy face.  chat/watch the games with strangers/family.  the world is still the same, but not our minds

it's exciting to see how people cheer for our fellow canadian athletes when they bring medals home. winning feels good and definitely brings up the spirit. every athlete wants to win a medal and make their country proud.

i respect each athlete for their dedication towards sports. many tourists had a good time here and respect us for our hospitality during this period. they will leave with an impression of vancouver. definitely will respect canada if they had a pleasant experience.

i think this game definitely changed vancouver because it took place right here. it's a once in a life time experience and especially memorable for those who participated. they will share this experience with others and their next generation.

so proud!

其實講到尾咪又係當為一個感情寄託

人地拎金牌係人地一生努力
其實關你咩事呢

將人地成就當係自己成就
呢個係咩邏輯呢

講咩邏輯?that's just a feeling .. it's all emotional
just the same when u watch the world cup, NHL or NBA
but the only different is that, the feeling is 1000x stronger then any others
since the events is happening here where i live
although i gain nothing... i feel happy, i feel proud.. simply is it
i can now come to you and shout "I AM CANADIAN" loudly and proudly right in your face
無希望無失望

Locally here the Olympics atmosphere is very strong, but in other Canadian cities not as good. Many unsold Olympics merchandise were tranported from other provinces to here. In the past, some people felt only Hong Kong people like lineups, but we now know this is not true.
