hahaha, the lip-synching was not an issue at all, since many other large scale performance were using lip-synching, including Sydney 2000 Olympics pre-recorded performance by the Sydney and Melbourne orchestra, and the performances at our glorious Vancouver 2010 Olympics opening ceremonies.

Beijing also informed all the international media about the computer animation foot-prints effects as part of the program, before the opening ceremonies, so this was also not an issue at all.
