【明報專訊】卑詩保險公司(ICBC)準備將衝紅燈攝影計劃擴大，在衝燈黑點加裝140部攝影機，而且全部攝影機均會正常運作，不會再擺「空城計」。

現時省內共計有120個十字路口已經安裝衝紅燈攝影機，但實際上只有30台攝影機在運作，即有7成半的十字路口在擺「空城計」，所裝攝影機只是擺設而已。

在卑詩保險公司擴大計劃下，每一個路口都會有自動攝影機的裝置，但未必會24小時運作。

卑詩保險公司發言人格羅斯曼(Adam Grossman )指出，衝紅燈攝影機會選擇在每日衝燈高危時間開啟使用，希望此舉可以起到阻嚇作用。

格羅斯曼強調，計劃並非要增加衝紅燈罰單，而是希望駕車者警覺到衝紅燈的後果十分嚴重，從而減少因為衝紅燈而導致意外所釀成的傷亡。

他指出，雖然這是全省性的計劃，相信裝置在低陸平原的機會遠高於全省其他地區。卑保已經確定全省1.4萬處裝置衝紅燈攝影機的可能地點，稍後會與省內各城鎮政府商討合適的設立地點。

How do they determine 每日衝燈高危時間? I have seen people 衝燈 all the time regardless of day or night.

How busy is the traffic at that time. If it is only dropped by 6%, it is not much and it may cause more rear-end accident

Sigh.... no matter there are real cameras or not, people shouldn't speeding and go thru red lights anyways la! If everybody is following the rules and consider other people's lives (and themselves), how can the government charge you for money ah?!

    It end up we all pay more gas tax, property tax, HST......... to balance their books
