Um....
A. Young people don't have enough experience, nothing to do with whether they are born after 1990.
B. I can probably find similarly useless individuals born across any era. Using a sample, however big or small, to brand an entire generation of people sounds extremely bias.
C. There are always a lot of people of a certain generation that despises the generation coming after them. They are younger, have more opportunities, hopes, and dreams. They tend to on average have more schooling, more knowledge for their age, and take a lot of things the older generation worked hard to get/understand/achieve for granted. That's called Progress, and should be celebrated. I am sure many would remember, when they are younger (or even now), how the 70ers/60ers have despised the 80ers, for how they take a lot of luxuries for granted. Same with the 40ers and 50ers despising the younger gen for never having been living through war times.
D. Yes, ever since the baby boomers, every generation have left a huge tax burden to the next generation. Society is indeed getting more and more in-debt for the younger generation. In that sense, yes, society does owe it to the younger generation. The social mobility that was seen in the 60s is no longer seen today. Our parents who used to be able to achieve success comparatively easily in the time of boom, this will probably not be the same for the younger generation. Hopefully there's more than just a pile of capitalistic ash left behind for our next generation.
Yes, I'm a 80+ like you.... with lots of 90+ envy too. But I won't express my enviness in the form of stereotype. Shall our next generation live better than our's, and society progress towards the better forever. |
