anyone thought of using a fish tank to host a community of ants? i saw a TV program about it. it is pretty cool as u can see the underground structure of their "house" and how they work together to gather food.
People would have spiders, lizards ... etc as pets, and maybe ants are workable too. Some people think it's gross but it's totally up to your own preference. If you cover the tank well, I don't think it will be too messy. Compare to if you don't train a dog well, he/she can pee and poo everywhere at your home tim la, right?! But to be honest, I personally don't like crawling creatures (actually "insects") much, hehe.
I know I have seen somewhere that they do sell those "tank" specially for keeping ants. The thing is you have to go find the ants (they have instruction sheets on how to find them). I am 100% certain I have seen it in either Toys R Us or those stores that sells bird feeders and bird seeds.
I remember that when I was in grade 5, our teacher decided to get a class pet for us to play with... his first suggestion was a tank of ants... because we were studying ants at that time~ but at the end we got a tank of sea monkeys... lol
toys r us actually has a kit like that~
they give you their "house"
and once you buy the pkg i guess you send them your address and they'll send you a queen ant and a male one i think?
my bf was really interested in getting one
but after doing a lil research on that he said they'll only ship within the U.S.
