i was wondering if there is anyway that I can bring fresh/frozen salmon back to hong kong because some of my friends want it for souvenirs. I know Crystal mall used to have a store where they pack the salmon for you and its ready for you to bring overseas.. but apparently they're closed now so i don't know where to get it now...
Anyone have any suggestions or know any place that I can get salmon thats already packed for you to bring overseas? && are there any changes to the policy of whether or not you can bring fish overseas?? XD
help is much appreciated!!
I'm leaving next week so need help quick!!!
raw salmon or smoke salmon?
raw salmon, you can just walk in to any fish store, they just pack the fish with dry ice in a foam box. air canada will charge extra for keep dry ice in the box, not sure the other airlines.
Check out the ones in Granville Island as well. They pack it nicely with dry ice to bring oversea. Very fresh smoked salmon too. Better to get them the day before you fly or better yet the morning/afternoon before you depart.
although I am pretty sure it is illegal to bring raw meat/fish to other places without declaration at the custom...........
my dad always buy lots of salmon steaks (bought from T&T) back to HK...
he usually just freeze them and wrap them with newspaper right before he goes..
and he said the salmons were still pretty frozen when he got back to HK
I packed the dry iced salmon in my carry-on luggage when I travelled back to hk in a month ago. All my dry ice hv to throw away cos it's not allowed to bring on flight.
Remember to pack it in ur luggage, don't put it in ur carry-on luggage

Sashimi quality goeduck is even better, it is light weight, not as susceptible to harmful pathogens
i.e. Stapholococus Aureus and Botulinum and parasites.
Good quality goeduck is very expensive in Hong Kong.
