What are your contributions to enviromentalism?

I recently read a thread on Wikileak, certain poster have said the only way to save the world is to kill off some people. I believe generating a war is one of the best ways to do it. But there are so much environmental issues in the meda right now, what have you done to change it? Doesn't have to be big, little things too.  I want our green lifestyle to be contagious, we can change our lifestyle for the better or face the wrath of a unsustainable future.

For me,

We have a recycle box for paper at home, all the stuff get put in the blue box after we recycle.

I donate 10dollar every month to TD green foundation.

I don't plan on having kids, may adopt.

節約用紙/水/電/等等,用環保袋,買有機食物。。

just trying my best to
- turn off lights and heaters in the house.
- buy just the amount of food we need.
- buy fewer items than I really need.
- fix instead of replace.
- sell unwanted stuff in craiglist or ebay
- reduce storage (!), there are so much hidden stuff in the house not used due to our poor memory
- educate my children that wasting things is shameful.

I agree with Daimo's list.
I also try to buy local and organic if that's possible. And if not, I pick local over imported produce.
I am still working on buying just the right amount of food. I tend to over purchase and it's bad.
join CSA program to support local farming for the 4th year.
thinking of joining that for local wild salmon as well but I don't eat enough fish for a single share. I will look into it and find ppl to be able to share and join next year.
separate and recycle all possible garbage at home
looking into getting under the sink decomposer or bringing them to my parents' garden decomposer this summer when I cook a lot more veggies.
try to bus/carpool to work whenever possible. walk home if weather permitted.

Local and organic doesn't necessary mean fewer carbon footprints.  Some local farms consume way more energy than trucking grocery from California.

well then call me selfish. Cos they DO taste better when they come freshly from the farm.
I think the best case is to have a small vegetable garden and grow my own. But I can't afford a house with garden now.

for me organic food is for the taste (health? debatable) but not for the environment.

some of them are. some aren't. It depends on how the farm is run.

Are you going to raise chickens in your garden if possible? It may be allowed soon.

I don't have a garden but if I do, I may consider it. I used to have 2 pet chicks in HK when I was little.
