Moving with pet back to HK

Hello. I will be moving back to hk soon and am wondering what are the detailed procedures of bringing pets along? I have a rabbit and would like to take him with me as there won't be anyone here to care for him. I already know I have to apply for a permit from HK and obtain a vet certificate here.......but can someone please tell me the details?

I did some research and it seems no pets will be allowed to fly in passenger planes......hk regulations need them to be sent via cargo planes. Does anyone know is it safe to send pets that way? Will it be safer to sent via CX or AC? It will be a torture for me not being able to travel on the same plane as him..... =(..........and what will be the approximate cost? What are the procedures when I pick him up in the hk airport? Will anyone examine him before he's free to go home?

Thanks!  =)

i bet you have to wash the rabbit for the first thing you have to do when you arrived hk

你要睇一睇呢個website,因為入口之前要拎o左許可證先...唔係話"wash the rabbit "咁簡單..

From CX: Except service dogs, no pet or animal of any description will be permitted in our passenger cabin. Pets such as dogs, cats and birds will be crated and transported in the cargo compartment.

會唔會係同一班機但係兔仔要去行李倉咋?

Pets will be in special compartment for live animal in the cargo area.  Even if your bunny is on the same plane, it like will need to go through quarantine and you won't be to leave the airport with your rabbit right away.

Also, air travel can be very stressful for the animal.  Cost aside, you may want to consider leaving your animal behind with someone in Vancouver.  My old boss shipped his cat from UK to Vancouver.  His cat was stressed out and die after two week.  It costed my boss $2,000 on vet bills.

Have you found a solution yet?

When I came to Vancouver, I brought my rabbit along too.  They are usually put in the cargo section but on the same flight....and not what you mentioned as a cargo plane.

It is extremely cold in that section so make sure you keep the cage warm.

If you need help, let me know.
