BTW, we do have some frozen snake meat in Vancouver. But certainly not the live stock that you can see in Asia. Occasionally we can see some snakes in the regional park during summer.
Beside snakes, we have many local alternate substitutes... Bear, buffalo, moose... Last week my co-worker went hunting and shot a black bear...
I remember (I may be wrong...) when you shot a bear or other large animal the hunter needs to report to the ministry. Then the ministry will send some officials onsite to check and record. After that I have no idea, have to read through the regulations...
The local hunter will eat the meat and take the fur. I remember there are some restrictions for the palm and the gut... You can own it but you cannot sell it, it's illegal...
