Does anyone apply for Nexus, is there any disadvantage? I heard it is only CAD50 for 5 yrs.

I have Nexus. With the dollar this low, getting Nexus maybe a good idea if you travel to US frequently. However Nexus has lots of rules, some are listed below.

- Only the Nexus holder can use Nexus lanes
- Nexus holder cannot drop off passengers before custom (this is enforced a little bit more lately)
- You need to carry the "declaration form" and fill it every time you come back to Canada

Other than that, the application process can take anywhere from 4-5 months. I applied in Nov, and I had my interview at airport in March. My schedule appointment was at 2:45pm, and the US custom didn't see me until 5pm.

I have had my Nexus for only 4+ years la.  It's worthy as long as you travel to US often enough.  There is quite some restriction that you should be aware..!  But if you think about it, you can always head toward the US with Nexus, then come back normal if you have over $50 purchased

What kind of Question they asked in the interview?

I kinda 1/2 filled in the online application form... but too many questions, so i gave up.

Now that the line up is getter so long now, i am thinking of filling in the rest of the form once again

- What do you do for living?
- What purposes do you go?
- Any convictions with customs?
- Which countries vistied?

If I use NEXUS, What happen if I spend over $50 on the day trip and wrote down on the  "declaration form"?

B'cas sometimes, the custom let go even we spend more than the limit...

The declaration form are collected and sent to Nigara Falls (Ont) for processing, that means no matter how much, you get taxed for the amount you declared.

If you buy from US, try your luck to line up. You might be home free.

So if I'm the only one who have Nexus but I carry passengers in my car, is that not allowed?  Everyone in the car must have Nexus also?

I had Nexus before But I never renew it when it expired few years ago. You can ONLY carry passengers who have Nexus also. And when you apply, you can only include family members on the application.

All pessengers in the car must have Nexus, otherwise you must go through regular lanes.
