What I really scare is that when happens to Canada if all these rumours 'Bank Holidays', 'riots', 'Great Depression', 'Mandatory Swine Flu Vaccines' etc crops up ?  

What happen to my savings at the bank in Canada as we are too close to US - I mean only 2 hours drive to the border ...

If I were you, I will prepare the following :

(1) Have the seniors and the kids, infants temporarily out of North America
(2) pile up food & water  asap
(3) Have some cash on hand if all the ATM machine are down
(4) look for backup power generator
(5) Have at least a base ball pad or some sort to defense ... ( may be a small teaser from East Hasting )
