The reason for me is simply that I don't think I can make as much money if I go back to HK.

If I compare myself to other friends/people that went to university with me, except those that were born in rich families to begin with, the salary varies between 10k to 30k per month.  That is much lower than what I am getting here.

So yeah... if you can fit into the community, there are actually lots of opportunities here.  However, if you have been living with the complete honger style, then yeah, go back to HK seems to be a more 'reasonable' door.

However, making 10k-30k in HK would end up more net income even if we make same gross amount due to high tax. i.e. 30K in HK is about 4.5K here but if I make 4.5K per month I would only get about 3K after tax and all the other deductions.
So even I don't spend much in social activities, clothing, gadgets etc I could save more in HK. But of course, it's very hard not to spend $ in HK...

One thing I disagree, it is not about "honger style".  It is whether they want to hire you, or if they want to hire a white guy, for example.  You can "try" to join a community, but they don't have to accept you.

I feel sorry for you. It sounds like you are being races by the white ppl here and got a lot of bad memories?? I think the white ppl here are quite friendly. I used to work in western companies and they are very friendly and helpful. (Better than some Chinese companies here like to 勾心鬥角)
