There is nothing wrong with technological achievements themselves. But when the country's per capita income is only in the US$3500/yr range, and a good 10% of the population is still living below the poverty line (as defined by World Bank), pursues of such bleeding edge stuff and other extravagance is a waste of resources. If I were only making Cdn$3500/yr, it'd be pretty stupid for me to go buy the latest Core i7 computer. But hey, I suppose that Core i7 will earn me bragging rights among my peers~
Whether we are唔識電腦嘅傻仔 is not an issue. Let’s see whether you are a true 電腦專才或電腦磚才. This topic is in your area of specialty; let’s see whether you have the capability to challenge me this time or once again embarrass yourself big time.
First, I guess what you said in post # 3 is about “cloud computing” – a very hot topic in the field packaged under an old concept. Do you know what you said here was already said 20+ years ago? So why do the “stupid” scientists keep on wasting money and resources to build the supercomputers which can be easily replaced by other inexpensive methods and technologies?
Second, from what you said, I 100% sure you don’t even know what a supercomputer is. Can I ask you – “do you think a supercomputer is more powerful than a mainframe?”; “if supercomputer can be replaced, why do we still need the stupid mainframe?”
I will be humbly waiting to hear the lecture from you.
