I thought this is exactly what we do in US before: Shopping? And we still have the tax exemption like $50 for 24hr, $400 for 48hr and $750 for 7 days? What has changed?

My only problem is that we do not need to go to Oreagon to get tax free buying now and therefore less incentive to go further down south.

Yeah...seems like nothing changed. So in a way not bad...at least nothing increased.
Things used to be taxed GST will be replaced by HST la...and no more PST...

Yeah definitely less incentive to go to Oregon now...

but I saw in the newspaper...only goods that can be brought back to other places are tax free. Service (dining, hotel, dry cleaning etc...) still need to pay tax in WA.

This is the guide given to Nexus holders for the Travellers Declaration Card (TDC), nonetheless, it is very useful.

While the idea is sound as many of us will go south to shop, but only for consumerable goods. I don't think you will be hauling a 47" TV back. Not to mention the border lineup time now is 45min avg on a weekday. I can't imagine on the weekend.

For this reason, I already suggested my gf to apply for Nexus. Interview is mostly done in 3 months, so now is a good time to do it before Black Friday, Christmas, Boxing Days... etc
