it has nothing to do with earnings

volume today was almost non-existent
only 1/2 - 2/3 of the daily average

This is the summer rally due to better than expected earnings, announced so far, as no double dip was expected. That does not mean it will not go down a bit again.

earnings is backward looking

A capitulation day for the bears. I suffer my 2nd biggest daily loss of the year. But oh well, life goes on and you just got to wait for your next chance.
