If you just transfer in Beijing airport, you may not need a Chinese visa or "wui hurn jing", because you are not entering China. Just make sure your luggages are transferred, so you don't need to check-in again. I not sure about this.
I tried China Eastern last fall, YVR<->Shanghai<->HKG, you dun need a 回鄉證(我拃加拿大護照)。但係如果你有回鄉證既話﹐甘就最好帶埋啦。in case 者。 不過搭東航最衰既就係去到上海要自己去行理帶都check 下拒有無直送去目的地。 有次我就係上海賴左野~ >_>
My nephew visited Vancouver from HK, his flight was Hong Kong -> Beijing -> Vancouver.
But his HK -> Beijing flight couldn't land in Beijing, they said it was some "flight quota" (not bad weather or anything), so they flew to some small city WAY up north, kept them in the plane for 3 hours, then got the passengers in a really horrible hotel. He had to wait until the next day before flying to Beijing again, then another couple of hours wait and fly to Vancouver, he was delayed for more than 24 hours.
If you are on vacation, I do not think you want to wait 24 hours stuck in an airport. I would TOTALLY pay that $2-300 more to go Cathy Pacific.
Are you referring to Air Canada for delay and lost luggage?
Touch wood those didn't happened to me before...I flew with them to HK at least once a year...
