i just checked out the forums and saw people posting questions with the check engine light codes they got.
too bad i won't be able to follow the steps to fix my car.. but i can see how people try to interpret codes..

my last mechanics probably have been trying to do the same with my car. i believe they really wanted to help, but car is still not fixed..
i'm planning to try with another shop, but it seems like the process will have to start all over again.. and the new shop might/ might not have a solution..
i'll bring my car's expensive 病歷紀錄 to them and hope they'll understand..


I got a question -
Are there different code readers for different cars, or it is all the same?
would there be some codes that only the dealership's reader can see but not other car shops?

Hoping to find a 唐人car shop this time..

好少問題﹐甚至係油缸個蓋無扭實個engine燈都會著﹐咩都另去車房盞益D車房佬。
睇車人架車換左兩次oxygen sensor 就知個車房佬玩野。
唔自己check下咩事盞任人魚肉。

大概得兩種code reader, 一種for係舊野OBDI(1995年前既車)﹐另一種係新野OBD2.
而加買到既reader 實read 到OBD2既車﹐而個code 係一樣既。

engine 燈著 doesn't must mean engine has problem, but it can.
Most car can be checked for code meaning in some way without OBD2 reader.  But of course, it's better to have OBD2 reader, a decent one can cost $150+.

Any noise?  Any stutter acceleration?  Change spark plug?  Oil change?

本來我睇到個 post 都費事出聲窒你架喇，但真係估唔到你可以低能成咁。

家吓嘅車咁多電子野，着 engine 燈你估淨係排氣可以有問題咩？由 intake 到 throttle body 到 engine oil 到 coolant 到 sensor 到 cat 到 exhaust，再數返去 fuel rail、coil pack、spark plug、到部腦同其他野，9000幾樣野都好以壞咗然後着 CEL。「個engine 燈既存在只係for環保purpose」都講得出，我真係 O晒嘴～

以福士同 Benz 來講，無錯佢係會出 ODB II 嘅 code，但係用原廠部 diagnostic 電腦來 check 嘅話就會話多好多野俾你聽。Toyota/Lexus 會唔會咁樣，我就唔知。

無知並不是罪﹐  真正的罪是以無知為榮。

知唔知道之前換咗果兩個 oxygen sensor 係唔係同一個 sensor 呢？因為如果無記錯嘅話，ODB II 嘅車通常最少會有兩個 oxygen sensor (pre cat 同 post cat)，而你 V6 偈就好可能每邊排嘅氣缸都各自有自己嘅 catalytic converter。其實 8、9年個 oxygen sensor先死，我都唔會太奇怪，但始終如果無啦啦個 oxygen sensor 自己死嘅話，我估佢係表面 symptom 嘅機會始終高啲。

另一個可以諗諗嘅方法係換車。架車其實都成 10年，開始多野壞就預咗架喇。如果來緊頭預計得到仲會有多野煩嘅話，其實換新車亦未嘗唔係一個更簡單嘅方法。Trade in 嘅話，你架車大若會值 ＄7500 -- ＄10k 到。

日本車仲要係2000年既toyota﹐閒閒地可以渣20-30萬公里﹐個engine邊有o甘快壞。
不過響度講乜都無用﹐至少要知道個code係咩。
有D車房佬賤到reset左盞engine燈就話整左 (eg 話換左oxygen sensor)﹐過一陣盞燈又著番又要整過。
如果唔自己check個code真係俾人搵笨都唔知。
