Yeah, ignorance is bliss. Best to tell them nothing even when there is a nuclear meltdown.

BTW, this is exactly what happens in Mainland China. Factories regularly spew out toxic stuff, and people are getting all kinds of sickness as a result, but nothing ever gets disclosed. Even when the problem has been acknowledged, the victims are not offered any help at all (even when help has been promised by the local or central government).

All in the name of river crab and stability.

I'm not saying the authorities are wrong, but certainly they can do better.
If prolonged announcement creates unnecessary confusion, letting HK general public know ahead of the time still better than letting them realized later.

According to international rules, these incidents are classified from class 0-7. Classes 0 and 1 need not be disclosed immediately. So there is no problem with the report mechanism as it conforms to international standards.
Do the other countries report class 0 and class 1 incidents immediately?

This is another example of: if other countries do it, it is okay
                                            if HK or China does the same thing, it is wrong.

我覺得d 議員係因為選舉年而興風作浪...
呢d 咁既class 1 incident, 一年大大話話都發生5-6次, 之前又唔見班議員咁緊張?
其實有dd 常識都知道呢d 咁細既incident 根本唔會影響民居, 公佈出黎盞令人杞人憂天.

小弟既意見係, 此事乃雞毛蒜皮.
