Unless you're involved in a traffic accident or WCB injury claim, you don't need a GP's referral to see a physiotherapist, chiropractor, or even massage therapist. But most extended healthcare claims will require a doctor's referral to see an RMT (while GP referral for physiotherapy and chiropractor are not needed for extended healthcare claims).
But you are quite correct that GP referral is needed for X-ray.
yeah I know for chiropractor or massage therapist doesn't require referral. Haven't dealt with physiotherapist before...I thought they are the same as other specialist lor...
I dunno about chiropractor services, but for physiotherapy, unless you meet the income assistance requirement (something like making less than $20k a year, I think?), the province will not pay for you and you'll need to shell out your own bucks for treatment. And even when the province pays for your physiotherapy service, you only get something like 10 or 12 provincially covered sessions.
But the receptionist would be able to verify that for you. Just bring your Care Card and she'll look into it.
