Seen lots of those around Stanley Park and English Bay. I am sure there is a bike rental for this kind of bike there.

Get a hybrid! like a Trek Mendota, make sure to ask the bike shop to do a fitting for you though, or else will be very hard to bike.

Trek Mendoat looks great!! but I can't afford > $1000 bike.
I will go to a few bike shops in the next few weeks. Hopefully, they still have something for my size in stock (and on sale!!)
I got a helmet and will try out my friend's mountain bike (on flat road) this weekend.
