Not to badmouth Kwantlen or anything, but between Cap, Langara, Douglas, and Kwantlen, doesn't Kwantlen have the worst reputation among the local colleges? I know for a fact that for university transf ...

Where did you get your info? But from what I understand, Kwantlen is the best and the largest among the colleges. In SFU Business faculty, they lower grades by 3.33 for all college transfers.

Making the grade: Kwantlen BBA degree students among the top in North America!

Kwantlen University College's Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree students, in the Entrepreneurial Leadership and Accounting specializations, placed among the top 91st percentile in a recent Major Field Test. The examination included over 350 participating institutions throughout North America.

The Major Field Test is a two-hour multiple-choice exam, based in the United States, that has been conducted annually since 1989 to evaluate student achievement and curriculum in North America. The test is designed to measure the basic knowledge and understanding of senior undergraduate students in their major fields of study.

In total, over 24,000 students from the United States and Canada took part in the two-hour test including 42 students representing Kwantlen. The three categories Kwantlen students ranked highest in include: accounting in the 97th percentile; business management in the 91st percentile; and marketing in the 88th percentile.

"The results are evidence of the solid business training that Kwantlen students receive," said Arthur Coren, dean school of business. "We hear the same story from employers too. Our graduates are knowledgeable and ready to work."

"When in high school you debate which university to attend, and while attending you wonder whether you made the right decision for your chosen field of study," notes Chris Parsons, graduate of Kwantlens BBA in Entrepreneurial Leadership degree program. "When you see a business program as new as Kwantlen's displaying the results that they are, versus all the other schools, the answer is undoubtedly yes."

The Major Field Tests are evaluated by the Educational Testing Service (ETS), the same American organization that conducts the Standardized Aptitude Tests (SAT) and the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE). Experienced teaching faculty representing all relevant areas of a discipline determine test specifications and questions.

Kwantlen's business degrees are based on extensive consultation with business leaders, providing students with excellent career potential. Graduates have attained advancement from a current employer, developed their own business enterprise and filled a variety of leadership positions in small and medium-sized businesses. But this is a press release from Kwantlen PR... I donno how representative it can be.

It fails to show what kind of students participated at the test... i.e. sample population... it might be the case that only school in the 3rd tier were participated at the test. Those 350 school might have include highly ranked schools including Queen's, Sauder, Ivey... etc.

Of those 42 students, it doesn't say that all students rank in the 97th percentile in account... etc... there might be only one smart student rank that high... there is no doubt that any school can have one or two bright student

This PR looks like to me another marketing trick B-Schools use to try make themselves rank high in "something"

Let's put it this way, The BCBSC is the annual competition for each school to show off their students and how well they stack against each other. The results change yearly and I don't find it an important thing to gauge the performance of the school.

All I know is, many profs who teach in bigger univeristies are also teaching in Kwantlen. In this case, it is even better because the profs are actually teaching and knowing the students rather than some TAs in a 35 people or less classes.

Even I dislike Kwantlen's BBA program, but I like it better than SFU because it is cheaper, closer and more flexible. (It's just the reality that all Kwantelen BBA students have to face - the PRACTICUM)
