and just because there are oil from Alberta doesn't mean we don't have to buy! haha, in fact, I believe Albertan oil are more expensive to produce than the Middle East ones?

票價元旦起大漲 公車族吃不消

Vancouver bus system is not as good as other cities in North America.

【本報記者蘇嫻雅溫哥華報導】儘管先前有「公車乘客聯盟」的攔路抗議,公車票價還是漲定了,而且1月1日就採用新票價。對於公車一再漲價,常搭乘者都覺得漲太多,也認為「小市民完全沒有討價還價的餘地」。不過,他們同時發現大溫交通局很聰明,懂得讓阻力減到最小。

加西台灣人藝術家聯誼會的成員吳菊表示,她移民四年,已經碰到不只二次公車票價上漲,理由都是油價漲物價也漲,如果大家的薪水也跟著漲,公車票價調漲才合理,否則會讓本來就不充裕的低收入者,生活更困難。

家住素里的吳菊,原本往返溫哥華市中心是9元,漲價後一趟就是5元,來回要10元,比在台灣或中國搭計程車都還貴。「真正要出去,還是得買票,總不能因為公車漲價就不出門,小市民根本沒有討價還價的餘地。」她說。

根據吳菊的觀察,大溫交通局很聰明,漲價總是漲得很成功。「因為經常坐車的,他們可以買月票,月票漲得不多,原本一段票是69元,漲到73 元,兩段票95元漲到99元,三段票130元漲到136元,並不是太多,買月票的可能就算了。至於買單張票的,多半不常搭車,既然不常搭,當然也覺得較無所謂。」

吳菊認為,這是每次漲價都沒有引起全民大反彈的原因,只要反對的力量不夠大,漲價案就很容易成功。

台灣客家會副會長周元英認為,若要鼓勵大家少開車、少排放廢氣,就應該鼓勵大家使用大眾運輸系統,票價不應該一下子加這麼多。像現在正在興建的加拿大線,可以讓列治文的人很容易到溫哥華市中心,將來若把票價定太高,恐怕很多人寧願開車,政府應鼓勵大眾乘公車。

由於家裡只有一部車,每周固定到台加文化協會授課的周元英,經常都搭公車前往台加,她從溫東到溫南,開車只要十幾二十分鐘,搭公車得換三班,一趟下來要花一個半小時。「公車這麼不方便,如果票價又高,不是等於鼓勵大家都買車嗎?」她認為重視環保的政府單位,應該想清楚這一點。
