I believe the tree in post #11 is plum tree, not cherry blossom.  I got mixed up before, but you can tell from the trunk -- cherry blossom got horizontal strips on, and the plum petals are more simple.

Having said that, the cherry blossom in downtown are pretty much ready, with buds all on.



You can occasionally find some that are already blooming:
