The two cities are as different as they can be. One is the financial and corporate center of Canada; the other is practically the retirement/raising family town of choice in the country. One epitomizes corporate ladder climbing; the other is all about enjoying your personal life. One has the crappiest hockey team, the other has solid (but never Cup-winning) team...

As bad as generalizations are, if you want to further your career, you'll like Toronto (and the east coast in general) better. If you just want to hea and enjoy life, you'll like Vancouver more.

4.  15 years ago, Toronto has more Chinese malls than Vancouver's.
5.  Chinatown had hawkers selling vegetable on the street.

While there are lots of Chinese malls and plazas over in TO, I dare say that none of them can match the scale, concentration, and quality of what Vancouver has to offer. As crappy as 蝕到慌 is, Toronto has no equivalent for it (no, Pac Mall, Market Village, nor 1st Markham Place are not even in the same league).

Another important point is the price, quality, and density of Chinese food between the two cities. On this particular aspect, TO just falls flat on its face. That is not to say that TO doesn't have good Chinese food -- it does -- it's just that you have to travel far and pay big bucks for it. And you want cheap, but decent afternoon tea food as well? Think again!

If maintaining a contemporary Chinese lifestyle is important to you, TO is definitely not as friendly as Vancouver la.

I prefer working or studying in Toronto while retiring in Vancouver.

Working in Seattle is even better, haha

Living in Seattle is even better tim ...  rather then downtown ..  much cheaper house price, cheaper food, cheaper seafood, low air fare to go HK/asia, lower cost on everything ...  (or same price, can get a 1000 ft bigger house there! lol)

Working in seattle is good too ..  high income ....

I would love to move to Seattle as well ..  ( keep my alberta license, NO TAX! )

However, but my wife wont move to USA la.....  ( most people dont want to anyway .. )

Between Toronto and Vancouver ..  I prefer Toronto  .. but then, my mom would prefer I move to Vancouver ....  so I can go HK more often!  I like to move to Vancouver too...

Like I said, I can only compare Toronto 18 years ago versus Vancouver 18 years ago.  18 years ago, Vancouver did not have many Chinese malls.  The only place we went for Chinese books is at Chinesetown.

I also remember haircut was cheaper in Toronto. 10 dollars including styling.
