If what you claim is true, why can I not find a single example in the last few years when the Pigeon and Lawyer Parties stood up for democracy and challenge the government head on? Unlike you naive self, calling a few party lines at demonstrations, and going home afterwards to enjoy their air-conditioned office doesn't cut it in my books.

and, what is the rationale behind this idea of looking everything in terms of %s?
so if a person only has 10 dollars and he donates all 10 dollars, he makes a bigger contribution that a guy who has 10,000 and donates 1,000, even though the benefits to the society are 100 times greater?

I think most ppl's POV is:

A. Mr Lee's donation of 300M is relatively a drop in the bucket for him. The primary reason why is that the donation won't affect his lifestyle one bit, and thus is lesser of a sacrifies compared to an ordinary dude donating $300 (which would impact one's discretionary spending, if not even core spending, more so than 300M in affecting Mr Lee's spending/lifestyle)

B. It is not so much a sacrifice for Mr Lee when the donation is more for PR purpose. It's more like buying an image, not a 'donation' Comparitively, I think an ordinary dude is making a greater sacrifice than Mr. Lee if he/she donates $300.

If every ordinary dude donates $300 in HK, it'll probably benefit society more than Mr. Lee donating $300M.

Having said that, since not every ordinary dude will donate $300 in HK, what Mr. Lee does is still better than nothing for the society.

When we are comparing $300 with $300M and considering that an ordinary dude donating $300 is a greater sacrifice... it only shows nth other than that the rich/poor disparity in HK is plainly ridiculous...

yes, he's still better than most ppl in this world... better than those ppl left most of their money for their children/grandchildren to spend and made them a piece of "shxt/junk" in the world, like 趙X曾's parents for example...

as for Chau Yun Fat, he's also good, at least he promised "after his death", even better than ppl never thought of doing anything for the society.
