Every city is different, that's why i would NEVER compare other major Canadian cities to Vancouver (i would compare Burnaby with Vancovuer East, or West Van with Vancouver West). Let's be honest, Canada is BIG! People are not buying these expensive houses to live in Vancouver to "find a nice job" or has "a nice museum", people are mostly buying them as vacation/ recreational purposes. So in that sense, the climate is in fact a major consideration factor!
Why are houses so expensive? they're obviously jacked up by the SUPER rich and their SUPER expensive houses. In order to understand, one must consider their natural habitat. Think about it, what do rich people do? They sail (we have multiple docks for boats) and they ski (we have local mountains and close to whistler), what does Toronto have in comparison?! |
