It all depends on how many beds are there in the pavillion. Since UBC hospital is not as crowd as VGH, that shouldn't be too bad... Patient occupanies are in the range from a month - 1/2 year, average turnover is +/- 3 months, so 30 beds in 3 months -> 30 patients died in 90 days, 3 days a patient...

I guess it will affect housing prices... since housing is at least partially propped up cuz of Chinese buyers. Any factors that would make Chinese buyers reluctant to buy will affect housing prices. So in a way that part of it is true.

Tho, i'd rather live beside such a place than a real hospital, or a cemetary, or a prison.... I'd think crime and stuff probably lower around such a facility?

They said they were afraid for their kid's health.  Their reaction is really uncivilized. No wonder they need to send their kid to University Hill Secondary.  I hope their kids would not be as backward as their parents.

I hope it won't go onto Vancouver Sun.  Really affecting our image in the mainstream.

The very reason to build a hospice there is actaully to serve this people.  So patient's relatives don't have to drive a long way to spend time with their dying relatives.  It is a stressful time for everyone, having a nearby hospice really takes the edge out for the family.

Do I like Hospice hospitals to be near my place? Probably not. But I am not strongly against it. Similarly, I don't really like Canada line to be real close to me (afraid of bringing more crime) either. For hospice hospital, as someone mentioned, probably there will be more ambulance or other "cars" to go around. So traffic is just more busy. but Hospice hospitals is not as bad as cemeteries, or funeral house.
