Making 3億 may not be a lot of money. They also invest a lot of money in their stores, pay their rent, and employ a lot of people.

Moron,
Read a little before you spew your shxt la. The $3億 is pure profits, not revenues. All the costs have already been accounted for to come up with this figure.

And as I said, it's a fact that raw materials have been rising in cost and somehow you don't freaking blame the real culprits for driving the costs up and just target the restaurants?

And I say the bigger culprit is HK pegging the HKD to the USD and their stubborn reluctance to drop this clearly unsustainable fiscal policy, or at least re-evaluate the exchange rate. That is not to say that the US's QE policies are not to blame, but the bigger problem is 聯繫匯率.

At this point, since the USD is depreciating, that means the HKD would appreciate if it is unpegged from the USD.

Exchange rate is relative ar mah. The mere fact that the USD is depreciating means that HKD will appreciate.

Realistically, as China's economy grows, it is only reasonable to for the HKD and Macau dollar to get absorbed and replaced by RMB. Of course, the RMB would have to be freely exchangeable on the international currency market first. Also, I'd much prefer a simple pegging of the HKD to RMB since RMB notes are so damn ugly...

Real Culprit is resource scarcity and rich poor disparity in developing worlds ba. Hence the unequal distribution in resource and high marginal price on them.

In terms of whether Cafe de Coral should raise their prices.... I think Lik needs to think that Cafe de Coral's management need to answer to the investors ultimately. Imagine that your investment portfolio have significant holding in Cafe de Coral and the management tells you that if they don't increase price, then value of your holdings will go down, or it'll stay flat for the year or make no return, reduce in yield, etc.... What do you think Lik?

Let free economy do it's work. Fact that economy is not completely free in certain aspects doesn't mean that it should be countered with price control in another aspect of the economy. 2 wrongs don't make a right, not for long anyways...

since HKD had peg USD for many years,  there is a chance that HKD have been over valued. Once its unpegged, it might be depreciated to 1 USD to 10 HKD.

Cafe de Coral and Fairwood certainly need to answer to their investors and stakeholders. But with profits of $300M and $100M, respectively, I think investors should be more than satisfied.

At the same time, these massive and nearly duopolistic giant companies need to fulfill their corporate moral duties. A balance needs to be struck between the investors' and the public's interest. But right now, the scale is tipped too far in the investors' interests. That in itself is causing civic discontent, leading to civic instability and unrest.
