lol rich but never consult an accountant...

i already speaked with my accountant... i had no idea what she was talking about actually.  all i understand was that she told me is that if i keep the money in my company's acct then canadian government cant tax me since its my company's income and not my personal income.  anyways, i'm just gonna leave everything to them now.  since its getting too complicated.

There is nothing to be afraid of. If you have already report everything properly (filing your oversea incoming to revenue canada) you can just tell them the truth. Customs are trainned to read ppl if ...

Ya, i reported all my oversea income, the accountant helped me do that already, so I guess I'll just I work in HK lor.... but then I'm planning to ask my auntie to bring back my laptop, camera, bags stuff, since they're visitor, they don't need to report it ba... can just say the laptop is for personal use...(it's old anyway)..., so I can report lesss, and pay less GST/PST (in case they really check me)..

Yes you have to if you are still a Canadian and still live in Canada. And if you have half a million, 1 you cannot travel with that much cash. 2 you have enough $ to hire a good accountant to do your ...

well, i'm canadian but i don't live in canada.  only come back to visit.  so thats different right?
i'm not talking about bringing half a million cash, but i'm talking about half a million of annual earnings out of the country.  those customs will ALWAYS ask if u have been working or not when you are out of the country.  if u declare your overseas income then you gotta pay canadian income tax.  i'm pretty sure when u have half a million earnings, you do NOT want to be in the income tax bracket in canada.
if u are earning about 20k HKD a month, then u would be hardly paying any tax in canada anyways then thats fine to declare the income.  but when u are earning alot more then that, i dont think you would even want to consider declaring anything.

Last year went back for 10 days (CNY)
The woman asked me some very non-sense questions

They are watching out for how you answered the questions, not just what you answered.  I sometimes use the same technique in job interviews

Also, they might be buying time to wait for your file to show up on their computer.

Sorry to bring this thread up again.  I need some advice, here are my situation:

My family (2Adult+2kid) landed in 2005 and we stayed a few weeks to get our PR card.  We went back to HK and I continue to work in HK.  We planned to move back this summer to start our real immigration.

1.  I did not report my work & salary for these years to canada.
2.  I will be bring many stuff with me, some of the stuff (e.g. laptop, NDS, mobile phone, DC) are not listed in the to-be-followed list when we landed in 2005.

What kind of question are we expecting from the Customs?

In my opinion, as soon as you landed and got your PR status, you are residents of Canada and all Canadians are subject to world income (have to report all income regardless whether you earned in HK or Canada or elsewhere)

The fact that you didn't file your tax returns doesn't mean that you are exempt from Canadian tax. Even though you didn't physically stayed here your status would probably be considered as "resident" because   1. you have intentions to return shortly,    2. you are "landed immigrants" and have "living ties" with Canada

so the CAD750/person limit applies?

It's funny because my wife and I just came back from Canada from Hawaii (via Buffalo) for a little less than a week.  When we reach the Fort Erie Peace Bridge, the Canada Customs person asked us where we stayed, when we left.  And finally how much goods we bought - I told them in total we have US$320.  He exclaimed "That's it?  Good bye." He interrupted me in my sentence trying to say that I was bringing in a bottle of liquor.  So we just drove up the QEW and back home.

From our experience going across the border via land is less hassle free than via airport.  For the past year, I have not use Toronto Pearson Airport to travel to the US but rather driving down to Buffalo use Buffalo Airport (and fly as "domestic").  Not to mention the air fare from Buffalo is much cheaper compared to Pearson. (We flew to Orlando from Buffalo with Southwest - only $59 each way + fees.  Try that for a flight from Toronto.)

You are a non residents so you do not have to file tax return unless you have earn some income in Canada such as rental or bank interest.

The limit is 750 per person since you already handed in your list.
