Actually, from what I learned in insurance class (Fraud) this happened a few years back too, where the person go to lots of the shopping malls and just keep keying cars one by one, walking isle to isle.....that guy keyed ALL the cars ....so actually ICBC went on an investigation and try to solve the problem themselves, hundreds of cars got keyed in a week....
what they found out was, the person did it all along the skytrain line...so he probably travel by skytrain....and they they see any autobody shops around those areas and investigate in them....then finally, they caught the guy...it was actually a guy that was taking revenge on ICBC as he thought he wasn't treated properly........so he went and keyed all the cars and make ICBC pay all the claims....but he didn't consider that other's people premium can go up! what a retarrrrrd...

Oh buddy... sorry to hear that.   $1000 x 100 cars => $100,000 claims from ICBC.  What the xxxx....

I filed to both police and ICBC la...and got the ICBC claim number over the phone...apparently they don't need to see my car first.  I can now take the car to a list of bodyshops that they gave me.  I guess I'll wait a few weeks before I repaint it...scare of being scratched again....

Nikonian, I'm quite stressed out lately, lots of stuff going on right now...and I need to solve them one by one...sigh...try my best la.  Btw, I imagine there are at least 500 cars got keyed in these couple of weeks including the incident at Silvercity Coq...so 500 * $1000, more like half a million!!!

now...I'm worry that my other cars will get scratched...sigh

It must be a group of people doing that, if they can spread this incident form Coquitlam, downtown, Vancouver..........

Just like someone said here....buy a white marker and draw lines on your doors to confuse the vandals...

I'd not be surprised if it spreads to downtown...

I really hope ICBC will catch the guy!

I thought about the white marker thing too, but does it really look like a real scratch???

Plus, it's hard to get it off from the car afterward, isn't it??

I don't hate the police, I think the police in Vancouver are very well trained. It is the law system here is so screw up and very discourage people to join their team.

oh yeh, when i was talking to the icbc lady, she asked for my police report number. when I told her, she was like "omg... do u know what that means? that's how many police reports there are already. And it's only march." The police report number I told her was over 900000.
