first, congrats and glad to hear from you again

honestly, I don't think raising an infant costs that much besides daycare, but sounds like you will not need daycare so just food, diaper, etc won't cost that much

private school takes up a big chunk of money too if you decide you'll go for that route

the financial burden comes when they reach 14 years and onwards...

For the baby stuff....I usually go to States to buy...coz is cheaper than Van....but remember that don't buy the car seat in States,is not approve in Can. I just went to States yesterday,my little one spend me like $300 for her stuff! Diapers and formula are really cheap in States...so I spend that much...heehee

wow! thx for all of your sharing...
Just wonder anyone use cloth diapers for their baby? my mom really wants me to use cloth diapers.. more eco friendly bor (if u dun use the dryer to dry them)

My sister used it for her older kid. A lot of work. You have to disinfect the washer after each use, dry the diaper, fold and shelf it.  If your mom stays with you for good, that will not be a problem. You are a new mom, don't have experience, you may also be tried feeding the baby......

If you don't deel too strong about it, I don't recommend it.

cloth diapers are great....if you get a diaper company. some companies will give you a bucket, you put all the dirty cloth diapers in, and they will wash and dry and deliver back to you....

otherwise, expect to do a lot of rinsing, washing and drying! ..remember, after every poop or pee, you have to rinse the diaper right away or else it will stain the cloth diaper. And...when you go out with your baby, what if he/she poops or pees? You will have to carry a dirty diaper until you get home to wash it!

but...if you have the time and energy to do it, I'd say good for you. it's friendly for the environment and will save your money in the long run. But remember, cloth diapers are NOT cheap at all. Nowadays, most have velcro tabs (no safety pins) and you will also need to buy a diaper cover (vinyl..like a swimming pants) just in case your baby's diaper leak.

wow... sound lots of works..  i'm not keen on doing the cloth diaper thing exclusively... i think i'll use the disposable one for the first month.. wait after a pattern is more stable (for BB)..then try to use it when i know BB won't poo poo on that... i mean.. i can wash pee pee one.. not the poo poo one...

For my bb....she just 7 week...I don't know when she pee/poo

babies don't really develop a pee/poop "pattern" until much older than one month...sometimes not until 1.5 years old!! My baby is now 15 months old and still no pattern for peeing yet. Even adult don't have pee pee patterns...you just go when you need to go! It's not like you can hold on to the pee to a certain time frame...haha

but poop...my baby developed a pooping pattern around 6 or 7 months...he'll poop at dinnertime every night...even if we go out to eat or stay at home, once we put the food out, he'll poop.
