Interesting....my other friend has the same concern.... but to me, I don't think I am giving out a lot of info....e.g. driver license, passport #, credit card info. Name, address etc.
Even you don't give to custom....you think they can't dig it out???

Tax is the same as HST (PST+GST later this year) and for items subject for duty, they could collect them too.

    different item different rate...If it's clothing and jewellery then rate is high.

I think we brought in $400 (2 people) and didn't charge tax...
Never tried more than $400...

We pick up the stuffs from point Roberts and use nexus lane, is not clothing or garment stuffs ah....

20% (12% tax + 7-8% duty) is pretty common for non-US made items.

If you are importing non-US made clothing items, duty itself is close to 18%.
