We do not add one dollar extra for our drink but I can understand it's hard to store much ice in the limited spaces for food courts.  It also takes time to crush the ice for the customer.

syrup = sugar + water, extra $0.50 is the max I can accept....
say the restaurant serves 50 cold drinks / night, 50 x 30 = $1500 per month, I don't think they'll need $1500 a month for for sugar & the hydro bill to make ice.

絕對係貴。。。5-8 毫先係合理﹐最好唔加。。。

所以呢個現象都解釋到﹐點解一D唔加的地方特別好生意

當然喇﹐也視乎他們是買冰定係自制﹐若是買冰﹐都算合理的﹐但小型的餐廳﹐自己制冰就唔應該收客人 EXTRA 囉。。。
我好惹火。。。

As I said earlier, labour cost is expensive, syrup is nothing, maybe  .$ 0.15
In this logic, nobody would ever buy Bubbletea.
$7.00 pearl would yield 50 serving.
For a 16 oz serving, the total material cost including is $0.60-$0.75 and how much
are you paying???  $2.00? $3.00 or $5.50?

you're right, bubble tea is a rip off but cold bbt & hot bbt are in the SAME PRICE.
ok, if you say labour, how much time difference is it for a server to prepare a hot drink than a cold drink? 30 seconds? do you pay your server $100 an hour?

Well, Canada is a free country and they can charge whatever they want, but if the food quality is similar I will choose a place that charge resonable for cold drink.

Hot beverage are usually coffee, tea or half &half, those are pre-made and just pour.
While for cold beverage, you have to make a strong base and pour over ice in long glass, again, you pay for the extra quantity almost double in size.
I repeat , the topic is "Charging $1 extra for substituting cold  drinks for set meal",
not for regular drink that you're already paying full price.
If you want to change anything from the Dinner Special at  Fancy Chinese restaurant,
would cost you a fortune
