You can buy OEM when you buy a new hard disk(as a new machine).

I have downloaded and installed the build 7100. However cannot boot from DVD, just run setup.exe from beta build 7000.

New startup time is just 50 second. The wall paper are quite nice and no more hang up when running rmvb files.

installed on a  40 gig harddisk  with the key microsoft sent me via hotmail

i just pull out my regular harddisk, and put this 40 gig harddisk in and try out
windows 7
i suggest people interested in windows 7 do the same
a good used 49 gig harddisk is probably $10
from www.freegeekvancouver.org

first off, windows 7  does not recognize the video card, the sound card,
and the modem
this lack of hardware intellegent appear to be like windows vista

similarly windows 7 accepts the windows xp drivers for the modem and the sound card

what is new with windows 7 is
in windows update,  it actually provides the drivers for the  video card and the
on board sound card
the video card only supports DX9, ( i think a DX9 video card is not fully functional in
windows vista, but i hope it flies in windows 7 )

I installed Windows 7 on a laptop, which comes with pretty standard hardware, Windows 7 recognized them without any issues. (Intel video, SigmaTel, Realtek Sound)

Bought a new cheapo systm for the living room to serve the TV. Instead of buying another copy of employee price Vista, installed freebie Win 7 RC instead. Took me like 6/7 hours to DL from MSDN? Burned and installed fresh without a glitch. All devices detected automatically, other than the Linksys Wireless G USB stick, which I needed to intsall drivers from the CD. Working pretty nicely so far.~

6-7 hours? On ADSL??

I got it from MSDN too and I guess my Shaw connection took less than 1 hour @ 1.00 MBps

I find that the public RC build 7100 has some performance issues. I am using 7127 and the problem is gone.

ADSL. I don't exactly remember how long, but definately more than an hour. I think it was 6/7 hours. I only got 15XKB/s...

yea took me one overnight to download the 64bit one with ADSL

then download both 32bit and 64bit using UBC's wireless network (20Mbit/s)..take less than 1hr to get both of them
