I bought my 400D (XTi) 3 years ago when I was a student and only worked part time at Daiso earning at min. wage....LOL

bought in HK for $5680 with the "regular" extra stuff included like extra battery, tripod, bag.....

costed me an arm and a leg.......

Totally agree, I believe 10MP resolution is all you need as a beginner unless you need HD video...
