I dunno about the Lux.  I saw one for $2400 a few days ago but it was snatched up in minutes by someone elese.  One of my contacts has the version II and the image looks quite stunning.  I think in terms of rendering it's probably similar to my 75mm Summicron.  I saw a lot of great images taken with the 35mm 'cron, but my friend said my C biogon is much better.

As far as the camera goes, it's the best experience you can possibly have today and I can't even imagine shooting a DSLR again.

Depends on how serious you are about your hobby and how far you want to take it to.  Some people pay $100K for an MBA degree.  Many people have $50-$60K cars.

I've pretty much reserved enough funds for all future generations of M bodies.  LOL.

If there is no budget issue.  Why not just shoot medium format on film.  As far as I know digital still can't get the highlight details of film.

Shoot 120 film.  :-)

Because you don't have to finish the entire roll within a couple days and you don't have to bring it to a lab.

Most good film has been discontinued.  It's a myth that film has higher DR than digital.  If you go out and buy a $2-$3 roll of film, you are not gonna get the range of a full frame sensor.  If you bring your film to some cheap places, they might scratch your film or somehow damage your negatives.

When it comes to storage, you can make 10 different copies of your raw files and store in many different places.  When there's only one copy of negatives, you really need to think about where to store them safely.

Now about the scanning part.  Most scanners have very low res.  I see many scanned film shots on flickr and they just look flat and washed out.

Actually, you shoot film when budget IS an issue.  It's inevitable that you will be able to buy M9 for $4500 at some point in the next couple of years.  With $1500-$2000, you can shoot a lot of film.
