Domke not padded meh? Padded enough for my cheapo gears I guess...

I am using Domke F-3XZ for light ...

I got my Domke for $30 US and it should be able to last a long time. For me there are enough pockets. Two for filters/caps and two for batteries and clothes.  Sometimes I even put a lens in one of the tiny side pockets.

I used Billingham and Tenba before. And I used to be a big fan of Domke. When I used the F-2 I found it only has a removable padded compartment inside the main space, but the bag itself is not padded. When I used the F-3X, the whole bag is not padded at all. I'm still keeping my F-5XB and some F-901 pouches though.
For maximum protection, I like Pelican and Lightware when travel on air.
I personally think Crumpler is somehow more stylish but sometimes not too practical.
Depends on different needs and purposes, I think Lowepro is over average in reasonable price and quality and is practical to use.

2.8 may be a bit heavy for T2i body (60D/7D will be better with mag bodies), I think sky is using f4 (normally...)

Even having f4, it's still tight when you pull out the camera & lens at the same time, it's just marginally fit (actually the bag is almost deforming, I'm using the slingshot 200 too..., after I upgraded my body to 1D3, it's a nightmare to have telephoto lens mounted)

the bag definitely deforms if body is mounted with the 70-200
I always have the body mounted with my 17-40 when putting in the bag

but so far my stuff fit ok only because mine is a little 400D

I think I will need a bigger bag when I upgrade to a new body

no padding? Just thinner padding ba? F-5XZ have padding, just not that thick compared to those insane 3/4" padding the Crumper have. I know the Crumpler will help your gear survive drops a lil better... but really, you don't want to drop anything at all to begin with. I think a padding that helps me with bumps and scratches is good enough. The extra bulkiness is not worth it otherwise.

F-5XB is just the shorter version of F-5XC. And the F-5XC have the same form factor as the F-5XZ that I got. How do you find the F-5XB?

Depends on different models. Nope, my previous F-2 and F-3X were not padded at all, as described above. The F-5XB I'm still keeping is lightly padded and I'm happy with it. I think it's similar to the newer F-5XC and even your F-5XZ, which are also "lightly padded". I got my F-5XB in HK many years ago though.
