I like Iromwood Library better, everything is new; and better mix of users too.
I seldom hearing  loud speakers there.
In other Richmond library, the library would advise the public: it is alright to
use cellphone in library, just to keep the voice normal. I do not think it is right,
especially  if they were talking in foreign language other than English and French,
Please be considerate and show some respect.

You are a racist and violating other people's human rights, if you would not allow people to speak any languages they want in a public place. If its your private office, then you can force people to speak English/French. We are talking about a public library.

When British people tour a Chinese library, are they going to speak Chinese?

I usually go pick up books at the cambie branch and never see this. usually only noise is at the kid's playing area. (crying.. sometimes but you can't avoid that)

I see these scenario quite often at Renfrew Library.
The parents won't control their kids when the kids play in the library.

People talk so loud as if they are in a meeting and the phone is not on vibrate, rigntone is super loud.

Teenagers play online game at the library in group (occupied all computers).
After reading books, people just left it on the desk and walk out.
Washroom is extremely dirty that people dunno where to pee (because it's all over the floor)

If it's not for the wireless internet or the magazines there, I won't go to Renfrew at all(which I hardly go anymore).

there're always people chatting, phones are always ringing, and half the time people stay at their seats to tal ...

Same as SFU.  Although it's a common place for study (which allow general discussion) but I see Chinese students play youtube so loud in that areas or playing with the phone w/ different ring tones. (It's so embarrass that one of the guy from the group told the girl to stop it)

I know you work hard trying to convince people that everything Chinese is superior, but it is not helping.
I talk to Caucasian that Tibet is part of Chinese, and how Dala Lama is misleading the world. I tell Chinese
drivers in Chinatown to be respectful and do not double-park with the ignition on while waiting for their spouse shopping. Telling senior ladies not to break the ginger root and stuff the Extra-large eggs in the Medium size cartons to save a few cents. My advices surely would not be appreciated. Hey, Ma sir, please read carefully again. I was saying that people have the right to speak whatever languages in a public place. If they talk loudly, then its another issue altogether.

People have the right to speak whatever foreign languages in public library, parks, swimming pools etc. provided that the volumn is not too much. But you were saying they should not speak in a foreign language at all.

If you think about it, why can't we speak Chinese in Stanley park, which is a public park. There are so many tourists there anyway.

I don't think a language would make a difference. No matter what language, talking in an unreasonably loud voice in any language (even English in Vancouver, Chinese in China, French in France...) in a library, opera, or Court is unacceptable. Doesn't it?
