I also agree the CBSA is very rude in general. I remembered once I went to Pt. Roberts to pick up a parcel i bought on ebay. On my way back to Canada, the custom officer asked me the value of goods i was bringing home. I handed him the invoice and paid the duty/ gst / pst with a good attitude. I was very cooperative in the entire process but he searched my whole car over. He didn't find anything of course and then he told me "you are free to go" after 10mins of searching and just walked away. I followed him and questioned him " Do i look like a smuggler? I declared everything to the exact of what i was bringing over. Why searched my car?" He answered he has the right to search any suspicious vehicle and it is normal procedure. Then he kept walking back to the office. He didn't explain what was the reasonable ground for him to suspect i was hiding something in my car. It wasn't just a pop the trunk quick check.. it was a complete search over....
I think they are abusing their power in some situation......of all the CBSA i have deal with, about 50% had very bad attitude. They like to question you as if you are a criminal.
My friend's friend had a similar story. Her background is similar to this TW lady, except she is younger and prettier
Again, CBSA said there was problem with her airline ticket, blar blar blar.......... However, she was able to reach my friend, and my friend 擔保 her. So everything was fine at the end.
If this lady could have reached her friend/cousin, she wouldn't have been expelled.

And they have the right. My car had been search and I had no problem with it.
just don't take it personally. let them search since you have nothing to hide.
Their 態度 is okay, not bad at all. I think as long as you are being honest with them, you would not be treated as 審犯嘅態度! Each time I come back from Asia, they are nice to me. I just answer what they question me and, YES, I do have lots to bring back to Canada each time!!! They just let me go with no doubts. Maybe it's that woman's 態度有問題 at the beginning? I thought most TW people are famous for 好夠火氣...? Each time when I turn on that Mandarin TV, all I see is TW politicians shouting and yelling at each other . Maybe she was 火氣太大, and 關員們 didn’t like it? lols

I didn't take it personally , I was just trying to share my experience and feeling with CBSA. I agree it is their job to search all suspicious vehicles. This part is completely understandable. I totally respect them to be responsible for their job. I have crossed the border hundreds of times and I would say approx 50%(not all, I have seen some very nice one too) of the CBSA I have met had very bad altitude. In my example, I was just mad at them because they made me feel like a was a smuggler right at the beginning. They asked for my car key then called me to wait in the office and they just started to search my car. I went out to witness the search but i got called back to the office. After the search, they didn't apologize of having me waiting. Instead, they just gave me the key back. Told me I was free to go and just walked away.....They didn't explain anything in the whole time.

well, I know that you understand but just don't feel bad. They really don't have to explain to you why and how because in that case, the real smuggler will know how to "escape" being picked for search.
I used to cross the border everyday (yes, every work day) for a few years. I actually NEVER had problem with the Canadian custom and I mean real problem. Being asked and being searched is just part of the routine.
Rule of thumb is to tell the truth, answer all questions even thought it seems unrelated to your trip and report everything. (e.g. a loaf of bread, some left over cotton candy I picked up after office party, balloons...etc)
Many times, they just rolled their eyes when I told them. LOL
my car was search twice in a week one time, I asked (jokingly) if they are looking for a black car and they just smiled back. (I don't think they can tell me)
Yes, just report the truth. If you spend 150, report it, most likely they would not charge you; my friends bought clothes from outlets and wore them; the custom still found out and charged them duties.
